IT’S a lifestyle many could only dream of but for Mooloolaba couple Glen Cruickshank and Diana Journeaux, it’s their reality.

The pair are the proud owners of Rainbow Beach Helicopters and spend their days flying over the beautiful coastline that they hold dear to their hearts.

Glen said that he and Diana were passionate about what they did, having spent much of their lives enjoying the area.

“We are passionate about the area, having spent a lot of time here as children with our parents and then with our own children camping and fishing at Double Island, Inskip Point and Fraser Island,” he said.

The adventurous couple had spent many years travelling throughout Australia but said it was always their dream to come back to their “home”.

Glen, who pilots’ the helicopter, spent most of his career in the Kimberleys flying over places such as the Bungle Bungles and El Questro Station.

The two said they were passionate about allowing people to enjoy the Fraser Coast from a different point of view.

“We are dedicated and very passionate about bringing a unique and personalised experience to all our customers that want to share their ultimate adventure with us,” he said.

Their aircraft of choice is a Robinson R44 Raven 2 that they describe as a “luxurious” helicopter, featuring leather seats and air-conditioning.

Glen said that for the ultimate encounter he encouraged a “doors off” experience to his passengers.

“Because it’s doors off, your views are unobstructed and you experience the exhilarating feeling of the open space between you and the natural beauty below,” he said.

“It has been compared to riding a magic carpet.”

Glen said passengers were constantly “grinning from ear to ear” as they enjoyed the incomparable experience.

“We’ve had dugong sightings, seen lots of stingrays and dolphins,” he said.

“You are sitting in comfort, safely strapped in but feel like you are right

in it.”
